Greek Burger Ingredient Notes
Here is what you’ll need to make these Greek burgers. For the full recipe, scroll down to the printable recipe card.
- Ground turkey: Ground turkey keeps these burgers juicy and flavorful
- Onion, garlic + dried oregano: Finely minced onion and garlic add plenty of savory flavor, while oregano gives the burgers that classic Greek flavor.
- Fresh baby spinach: Chopped spinach adds a little extra color and blends right into the burger mixture.
- Sun-dried tomatoes packed in oil + herbs: These add a sweet-tangy flavor and a richer tomato taste than fresh tomatoes.
- Salt + pepper: A simple seasoning that brings all the flavors together.
- Mozzarella cheese + feta cheese: The melty mozzarella and salty feta make such a good combination on these burgers.
- Whole wheat buns: I like whole wheat buns here, but any burger buns you have on hand will work.
- Mayonnaise: Spread a little mayo on the buns for a creamy finish.
- Spinach: Add a handful of fresh spinach to the burgers for a simple, crisp topping.
How To Make Greek Burgers
Directions to make Greek Burgers is fairly simple. The more time you allow the burgers to rest in the fridge, the more fragrant and garlicky they will be. For full recipe details, see the printable recipe card below.
Step 1: Combine
In large bowl, mix turkey, onion, garlic, oregano, chopped spinach, sun dried tomatoes, salt and pepper together. Form into 4 large patties, place onto plate and cover in plastic wrap.
Step 2: Refrigerate
Store in refrigerator for 2 hours or so before cooking (ideally). You can cook these right away, but the garlic flavor won’t be as strong.
Step 3: Grill
Grease grill rack or skillet with oil or non stick cooking spray. Heat grill or skillet to medium heat. Place burgers into pan/onto grill and cook until there is no more pink meat! If you’re unsure, cut one of those babies open just to double check. Turn heat down to low and top with mozzarella and feta cheese.
Step 4: Melt Cheese + Serve
Cook patties another minute or until cheese has melted. Place patties onto buns and top with spinach and mayonnaise and/or any other desired toppings.
Pro Tip: Don’t use high heat when grilling these burgers, or the outside can char before the inside is cooked. Medium heat gives them time to cook through, and once you put them on the grill, leave them alone until they’re ready to flip so they hold together better.
Tips for Success
- Keep the patties together: Chop the spinach and sun-dried tomatoes finely, and mix everything thoroughly before shaping the patties.
- Control moisture: Drain the sun-dried tomatoes well and squeeze out excess moisture from the spinach before adding it to the turkey mixture.
- Prevent puffing: Make a small indentation in the center of each patty before cooking to help them cook evenly.
- Avoid over-browning: Lower the heat to medium if the burgers are browning too quickly, giving the centers enough time to cook.
- Melt the cheese: Add the mozzarella during the last minute of cooking and briefly cover the pan to help it melt.
- Keep the burgers juicy: Avoid pressing down on the patties while cooking, and remove them from the heat as soon as they’re cooked through.
What to Serve With Greek Burgers
These Greek burgers pair well with fresh salads, crispy potatoes, and easy sides that round out the meal without taking away from the burgers.
- Caprese Salad Recipe: Fresh tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil add a light side to the burgers.
- Air Fryer French Fries: Crispy fries are an easy choice for a classic burger-and-fries dinner.
- Greek Salad: Fresh vegetables and feta make this a simple side that complements the flavors in the burgers.
- Roasted Potatoes: Crispy roasted potatoes make the meal more filling and pair nicely with the savory patties.
- Grandma’s Cucumber Salad: A cool, crisp salad adds a fresh contrast to the warm burgers.
Enjoy these Greek Burgers the next time you fire up the grill! They’re simple, flavorful, and perfect for a summer meal. Enjoy, friends! 🙂

Storage and Reheating
Store leftover cooked burger patties in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Keep the buns and fresh spinach separate so they don’t become soggy.
To reheat, warm the patties in a skillet over medium-low heat with a small splash of water, then cover for a few minutes to help keep them moist. You can also microwave them in short intervals, but avoid overheating since ground turkey can dry out quickly.
For the best texture, assemble the burgers with fresh buns, spinach, mayonnaise, and any other toppings right before serving.
